Jeff was elected to the Shreveport City Council representing District B in 2010 and reelected in 2014. Since taking office, he has worked tirelessly to promote the interests of the residents of District B, as well as the broader interests of Shreveport citizens. He has made a noticeable impact by fighting for the issues important to everyday people, leading with courage and conviction. In addition to many committee chairmanships, Jeff served as the 2015 Chairman of the Shreveport City Council helping to ensure a smooth transition for Mayor Ollie Tyler’s administration and a City Council that had a majority of its members serving their first term.
Before his election as Councilman, Jeff gained valuable, real-world experience in community development, government, and business. Jeff currently works as a Commercial REALTOR with Lea Hall Properties and as a Project Coordinator for the Lofts @ 624 development in Downtown Shreveport. From 2009 to 2012, his private-sector work focused on compressed natural gas (CNG) development in the Haynesville Shale with Ballengee Interests. From 2004 to 2009, Jeff served North and Central Louisiana as an aide to U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu. In his capacity as regional manager, he assisted local governments, private industry, and community organizations overcome challenges and work closely with the federal government.
Jeff’s early professional experience included positions focused on community development and education. He served the City of Memphis working on public-private real estate developments with the Department of Community Development. He also worked as Director of Development for the Alliance for Education, a local advocacy organization.
Jeff’s service to the community includes involvement with a wide variety of community and neighborhood organizations and civic groups. He has been the 2010 Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professional’s Initiative, served on the GSCC’s Emerging Leaders Connect Committee, the 40 Under 40 Committee a Vice President of the Caddo Council on Aging board, King of the Krewe of Highland in their 21st Mardi Gras Season, a founding member of the Shreveport Common Board, President of the Shreveport Chapter of Centenary College’s Alumni Association, and a member or volunteer for dozens of other organizations and events.
Jeff grew up in Shreveport, attending St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Caddo Middle Magnet, and Byrd High School. He went on to attend Centenary College where he was an active member of his college community. He graduated with honors in four years with degrees in Business Administration (minor in Finance) and Economics (minor in Political Science).
Jeff’s devotion to Shreveport is outmatched only by his devotion to family. He is married to Dr. Andrea Master Everson who serves as the President and Medical Director for Louisiana’s first low cost spay/neuter clinic, Robinson’s Rescue. They have a 5-year-old son, Andrew; and a 1-year-old daughter, Frances who along with their four dogs, keep them quite busy. They are proud residents the Highland/Fairfield Historic District.
